Ci sono progetti che segnano il percorso di un architetto. Il Capovolto è uno di questi. Cinquecento metri quadrati, un capannone, ex officina Lancia. Nel 1989, anno della realizzazione, non era facile digerire un’idea progettuale dove il banco bar era una scala in legno con un ballatoio, il retro tre pannelli in vetroresina e, come elemento centrale, una ciminiera in ferro con tre neon blu a fare da fumo. E ben quaranta sedie da regista. E tre (!) poltrone Frau rivestite in sky rosso. E una scritta al neon: “Pobeda nad solncem” . E basta. Grazie a Ottavio e Gianni, e a tutta quella marea di gente che ha decretato lo straordinario successo di questo locale, che allora chiamammo “Disco Bar 2”.



There are projects that trace the course taken by a designer. Capovolto is one of these. Five hundred square metres, a shed that used to be a Lancia workshop. In 1989, the year it was designed, it was not easy to stomach an idea in which the bar counter was a wooden staircase with a landing, the back was made of three fibreglass panels and the central element was an iron chimney with three blue neon lights acting as smoke. And a total of forty director’s chairs. And three (!) Frau armchairs upholstered in red fake leather. And a neon inscription: “Pobeda nad solncem”. And that’s all. Thanks to Ottavio and Gianni and the whole sea of people who have ensured the extraordinary success of this place, for which at the time we coined the term “Disco Bar 2”.
